65 Days Soda-Free

Midway into December I decided, “I will not drink soda for three months starting next month.”  I still am not entirely sure what possessed me to make such a bold declaration, but I do know that only a few days in, I was already counting down the days.  Now, sixty five days into my personal challenge, time has flown and yet also, it seems like I kicked the can a lifetime ago.

At some point I dropped the habit of reaching for, or even wanting, soda.  Sure, there are times when I am gripped with a sudden impulse to gulp down a large size Pepsi.  More so though, I’m craving water and occasionally juices.  Today I rode my bicycle to a store nearby and picked up some skim milk–my first time, in a long time (I used to also be a chronic milk drinker).

It feels good, I feel healthier or more energetic.  I also feel like I can take on the world.  The small step of refusing soda has inspired me to take on other challenges.  My room has been consistently clean for weeks (months now), without even a day of mess gone by; I am able to take on more work from clients, while working more efficiently, and having more free time; and most recently I’ve taken to only eating whole foods–this challenge runs 40 days and is not quite as strict as my absolutely-no-soda promise.

That’s all for now.  I’ll keep you posted as the three month mark approaches.  More updates on life soon: my recent move to Boston, upcoming travel plans, Danish lessons, and my vision for Work In Progress.

Cheers!
