Letters In Movement Making

I am two things: an activist and educator. The end goal? A better, more just, more equitable society.

I leverage tools in pursuit of that goal: web & media, video & public speaking, writing and take-it-to-the-streets organizing.

I write about my experiences–what I’ve seen and heard, what I’ve learned, what is working (and what isn’t). If what I write lands with you, you can try it out yourself. My writing exists primarily in two spaces.

  1. Free regular dispatches. Four times a week, I send out dispatches here on Lessons In Movement Making. You can get them delivered directly to you for free–signup here.
  2. The premium dispatch: Letters In Movement Making. This is a letter directly from me to you. These dispatches go deeper than my free public work, they deal with work that isn’t quite ready for the public web–plans still in progress; the detailed, nuts and bolts of launching successful campaigns; private probing questions (and sometimes answers).  I write from a place of openness (knowing that it’s going out to a small group of committed, trustworthy readers).

It’s my intention to share what the Dispatch’s about, not sell it to you. I can’t explain exactly what it’s about, because that changes through time. I do know that I write it at least once a week. I do know that the work trends towards lengthier, deeper, and more intimate posts than what I publish to the blog. The blog is an invitation to go deeper, this letter is the depth.

Letters In Movement Making isn’t for everyone. It’s for a small group of people who are deeply invested in the work that I’m doing. I give you a glimpse into the harder more intimate stuff, in exchange for your help supporting my work

My friend and mentor Rev. David Lewicki is good at reminding me that there are many ways to be involved with a movement. Some of us take to the streets to protest or to celebrate. Some of us take to the pulpit to preach and prophesy. Some of us start collective houses and community gardens. Some of us are nomads and some of us offer hospitality. You can dive into the Dispatches to go deeper into movement making or simply to follow the movement and be inspired.
